Sleep Support that goes beyond a Sleep Plan.

Expert guidance is helpful. Having the person who pioneered Sensitive Sleep Consulting beside you while you implement it is different.

When your child's sleep isn't working, you can find endless advice online.

Sleep schedules. Wake windows. Settling techniques. Routine charts.

But what happens when you've read the advice, understand the plan... and you're standing beside your child's cot wondering:

"What do I actually do now?"

That's where our approach is different.

We don't simply give you a sleep plan and send you on your way.

We coach you through it in real time.

And this isn't simply a sleep consultant using a "gentle" or "standard" approach.

Your support is provided by the founder and pioneer of Sensitive Sleep Consulting — the approach developed specifically to bring together evidence-informed sleep science with a deeper understanding of children's emotional needs, individual differences and family wellbeing.

Meet the Person Behind Sensitive Sleep Consulting.

Sensitive Sleep Consulting wasn't simply a label chosen for a sleep consulting business.

It was an approach I developed.

After working extensively with children, families and mental health, I saw a gap in the way children's sleep was often approached.  Parents were frequently given sleep strategies without enough consideration for the child behind the behaviour — or for the emotional experience of the parent implementing those  strategies.  I wanted to develop something different.  An approach that could combine sleep science, child development, emotional wellbeing, attachment-informed thinking and practical support for parents.

I went on to establish the Institute of Sensitive Sleep Consulting, where professionals are trained in this approach.

So when you work with me, you're not simply choosing a practitioner who happens to use sensitive sleep strategies.   You're going directly to the person who developed the approach.

Mental Health Expertise Meets Specialist Sleep Knowledge

There are two sides to this service.   Mental health and therapeutic expertise and specialist child sleep expertise.

As a qualified Mental Health Social Worker, I understand the emotional and psychological factors that can influence parenting, family relationships, anxiety, stress, regulation and wellbeing.

As the founder of the Institute of Sensitive Sleep Consulting, I also bring specialist expertise in children's sleep and the development of sensitive, responsive sleep strategies.

That combination allows me to look beyond the sleep problem itself.

I consider the child.

I consider the parent.

And I consider what's happening between them.

Because sleep doesn't happen in isolation.

The Difference? I'm With You While It Happens.

Real-time video coaching

This is not a standard video consultation where we just talk for an hour, give you some recommendations and say:

"Let me know how you go."

Instead, your support can include real-time video coaching while you are implementing your child's sleep plan.

I can be there with you while you:

  • Begin a nap or bedtime routine

  • Settle your child

  • Respond to protests or resistance

  • Implement a new sleep strategy

  • Navigate a difficult moment

  • Practise a new response

  • Build your confidence with the approach

I can observe what's happening in real time, coach you through your response and help you make adjustments as they happen.

You don't have to remember everything we talked about.

I'm there when you actually need to use it.

From "What Should I Do?" to "I Know What To Do."

One of the biggest challenges parents face isn't a lack of information.

It's uncertainty.

Am I responding appropriately?

Should I go in?

Should I wait?

What if my child gets more upset?

Am I making things worse?

What do I do now?

Those moments are where confidence can disappear.

Real-time coaching allows you to learn by doing — with an experienced professional there to guide you.

The goal isn't for you to rely on me forever.

The goal is to help you become confident enough to handle these situations yourself.

A Truly Sensitive Approach to Sleep

Sensitive Sleep Consulting was developed from the belief that children deserve to be understood, not simply managed.

Our approach considers:

  • Your child's age and developmental stage

  • Temperament and individual needs

  • Emotional regulation

  • Attachment and relationships

  • Family circumstances

  • Your parenting values

  • Your child's sleep history

  • Your own wellbeing and capacity

  • What is sustainable for your family

There isn't one magical sleep method that works for every child.

Your child isn't a textbook.

So your plan shouldn't be either.

And We Don't Forget About You.  Exhausted parents are often told: "You just need to be consistent."

But consistency becomes incredibly difficult when you're running on empty.

Sleep deprivation can affect your mood, patience, confidence, relationships and ability to cope.

That's why this service considers parent wellbeing as part of the picture, rather than treating the parent as someone who simply needs to carry out instructions.

What Your Support Can Include:

1. Comprehensive assessment

We'll take the time to understand your child's sleep, your family, your concerns and what's been happening so far.

2. Individualised sleep plan

We'll develop practical strategies based on your child's needs, developmental stage and your family's values and circumstances.

3. Therapeutic support for parents

Where clinically appropriate, counselling and therapeutic intervention can address parental stress, anxiety, overwhelm and other mental health concerns affecting wellbeing.

4. Real-time implementation coaching

I'll join you by video while you're actually implementing the plan, providing guidance and troubleshooting in the moment.

5. Follow-up support

We'll review what's happening, celebrate progress, identify barriers and adjust the approach when necessary.

More Than a Sleep Consultant. More Than Counselling.

This service sits at the intersection of two areas of expertise.

Sleep.  Mental health. And that's intentional.

Because sometimes the thing keeping a child awake isn't simply a sleep schedule. Sometimes it's temperament, anxiety, regulation, a parent who is completely depleted. Sometimes it's a relationship dynamic that has developed over months of difficult nights. And sometimes it's simply a child who needs a different approach. We'll look at the whole picture.

Medicare Rebates May Be Available

As an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, I can provide eligible mental health services under Medicare where the appropriate referral requirements are met.

Parents and children experiencing adjustment difficulty, post-natal or other mental health concerns, and sleep disorders may be referred by your GP under a Mental Health Treatment Plan for eligible therapeutic services.

Components of services that do not meet Medicare requirements are not Medicare-funded.

This Is For Parents Who Want More Than Advice.

This service may be right for you if:

  • You've tried sleep advice but still feel stuck.

  • You understand what you're supposed to do but struggle when you're actually in the moment.

  • You're worried about getting it wrong.

  • Your child's sleep is affecting your own emotional wellbeing.

  • You're exhausted and need practical support.

  • Your child is highly sensitive, anxious, intense or difficult to settle.

  • You want a responsive approach that considers your child's individual needs.

  • You want professional guidance rather than another generic sleep program.

  • You want someone to see what's actually happening, not just hear your description of it.

  • You want to work directly with the person who developed the Sensitive Sleep Consulting approach.

Because sometimes, having a plan is just the beginning. Having someone alongside you as you put it into practice can make all the difference.
